About This Blog

Hey, my name's Vaethereal, or Vae for short, and I'm a young gamer with "more brains than common sense."

This blog began on June 7, 2011 when I realized that a lot of the posts on my other blog, I Think in Black and White, were about games and playing them, or if not, about how I had nothing to blog about because games were sapping my time. In reality, I do a lot of other things besides game. Like, uh... go to the movies. And... hang... with my friends?

Okay, so I'm not really sure I'm the social butterfly that I make myself out to be. But that aside, I like to write as well, and after seeing all of the gaming blogs that I love (especially ones that fit my interests, mostly MMO blogs such as West Karana and Kill Ten Rats) and realizing that I, too, play too many games, I thought, well, ain't I missing out on something I was obviously destined to do? (That "ain't" was used in satire. Do not fear.)

So I imported some of the recent updates from my other blog here, and I've been writing ever since. They're still posted over there, though.

I do a couple MMOs, when they strike my fancy, but lately they don't. Usually when I play an MMO, I'll take the moniker "Vaethereal" (pronounced vah-ther-EEL, by the way), "Mnemosyne" (hence the blog name), or a variation of those. Casually they usually call me Vae or Mnemo.

(More fun weird pronunciations: "VAY" and "NEE-mo"!)

But more often lately, I've discovered the wonder of one-player computer games such as Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I list both BioWare games because they're huge sources of inspiration to me; if they're still running strong in some number of years, I plan to beg and internship my way into working there as a concept artist and/or game designer.

Hence, I'm also a self-taught artist and creative writer, and plan to teach myself code somewhere in the future... but don't worry, you won't see it here!

With that said, you will see lots of personal-sounding things. I don't (usually) do guides, heavy-handed "expert" advice, or any of the sort. This is JUST a catalogue of my adventures in gaming, and perhaps the occasional review. Nothing more or less.

I also have my eye on really good indie games, so if you know of one or are developing one, drop me a line and I'll see if I'm interested! I love trying out betas and spreading the word. Though this isn't a very popular blog, I'll post my support or review here. And I do have real-life friends (despite all that self depracation earlier) who play a lot of the same games I do, so I can spread the word there too!

Thanks for taking the time to read.
